Thankfully, those rumors about Ford looking to celebrate the Mustang’s 50th anniversary by offering half-priced pony rides at participating dealers were completely false. Instead, Ford is doing it right by releasing the 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition.
Just announced at the New York Auto Show, this version is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback. Notable additions include a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel; seats with the Mustang 50 Year logo; and an owner’s guide in a leather portfolio with the 50 Year badge on the outside. It’ll be available in either Wimbledon White or Kona Blue, with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and once it showrooms this fall, you’ll have to act fast—only 1,964 cars are being built. That number is a nod to 1964, when the Mustang was first shown to the public at the ’64 World’s Fair. [Purchase]
